This is a busy week for our parish and school. This week school begins throughout the state. For the past several months our school staff and teachers have been working incredibly hard to prepare for this coming year so that our students will receive a quality Catholic education. I want to thank them for their dedication, as well as all those who support the mission of the school. Please know of my prayers for our parents, students, teachers, and staff as we begin another school year.
We are implementing a new Religious Education. Our DRE Mrs. Lindsey Rutkowski, Youth Minister Mrs. Elizabeth Cotrupi-Pfunder, Catechists and I have been working through the summer to revamp our program. They too have been working throughout the summer to make this a reality. We wanted a program that would evangelize and catechize not only the students, but involve the parents as well. We are using Sophia Press’s “A Family of Faith” Catechesis. For this program to succeed, I not only ask for your prayers, but for volunteers. In the weeks and months ahead we will need many people to ensure that this is a success and that the children of our parish receive the formation in our faith that they need.
This Saturday September 2nd the Darlington Houses of Worship Tour makes a stop at our parish. This is a local community initiative to introduce members of the neighborhood to the many worship sights in the area. Those on the tour will visit several locations, hearing about their history, and getting a chance to learn more about the history of each place. The tour starts at our parish and I will be giving the tour and explanation of our church.
Construction continues. I appreciate everyone’s patience and flexibility as this work continues. The painting is certainly needed. Peeling paint, rust, air gaps in the windows, and myriads of other issues are being addressed through this project. I look forward to showing the before and after pictures.
