This weekend we celebrate our parish patroness St. Teresa, otherwise known as St. Therese of Lisieux. This year we are having a mission to celebrate our great saint. The mission will focus on three parts of Therese’s life. During the homily at all the weekend Masses (October 1-2), he will introduce St. Therese as a beloved daughter in her family and how the love and suffering in her family allowed God to overcome fear in her life. On Monday, October 3rd at 7:00pm we will have a Holy Hour and reflection on Therese as a Carmelite sister. We will unpack St. Therese’s life as a Carmelite Sister and how her focus on prayer can improve our spiritual lives. Finally on Tuesday, October 4th we will have a Holy Hour and reflection on Therese as a missionary. We will learn how a young girl who barely left her hometown could become the patroness of missionaries, and how we can follow in her footsteps to allow the Holy Spirit to transform our parish and our families. Please join us for as many of these reflections as you can to learn about our patroness.
A big thank you to everyone who supported the Priest Retirement Collection. We raised over $2,000.00 for our retired priests. In addition a thank you to those who supported our Knights of Columbus Council by having your car washed. We have another car wash scheduled this weekend on Saturday. This time it is our parish school 8th graders who will be washing cars to raise funds for the fun events the class organizes for the year. Thank you to all who support our 8th grade students!
Work continues around the convent building. With the trees cut down and the green storage container removed the land there needs cleanup. Claude and I have help, however. Two of the teenagers who broke into our convent have been charged with completing community service hours. Together we have been removing trash, old roots, rocks, and debris from that area. We have also been breaking up the ground to make it ready for grass planting come next spring.
Finally, October is the month of Mary and the Rosary. So, beginning October 10th at 6:00pm we will pray the Rosary while adoring the exposed Blessed Sacrament. We skip the first Monday because of our feast mission that night. Come to our Lady and Christ for their help.
