I announced last weekend that our soloist, Ms. Theresa Johnson, was moving to New Hampshire. Theresa started singing for us here at the 4pm, 9:30am, 10:30am (in the summer), and major Masses about a year ago. She has been a wonderful contributor through her voice to our Masses and liturgies. Please pray for her as she begins this new chapter in her life.
I’ve been talking at the end of Masses about our Engaged, Equip, Send Initiative here at the parish. We are still in the prayer stage; that is, intently taking more time in prayer with God asking him: “what should we do,” and “am I the person to help do it.” Therefore, I have set aside time for us to pray before the blessed Sacrament after the 4pm and 10:30am Masses this weekend and next. Also doing Stations of the Cross on Friday April 11th we will also have adoration. Time in front of our Lord exposed in the Monstrance can be a very powerful experience. I hope many will be able to join me as we spend time with Him.
We have a new school sign. For visitors and those families interested in our school one side of the building never had any signage. Sometimes people would ask me: “Father, what is that building behind the church and garage?” No longer, as we have beautiful new lettering that can be seen even from Newport Avenue. It is a small addition, but it helps increase our school’s visibility and provide a consistent image throughout the campus.
I can’t believe it, but we are already close to Palm Sunday and Holy Week. Our Holy Week schedule is the same as in years past: Holy Thursday Mass 7:00pm, Good Friday Stations 3:00pm, Good Friday Liturgy 7:00pm, Easter Vigil 7:30pm, and the usual Easter Sunday Mass.
Finally, people were asking me: “Father why didn’t you wear pink/rose on Laetare Sunday?” I have to admit: I brought the vestment to the cleaners and I forgot to pick it up in time for the Masses. Of all things to forget!
